Peace rally in Swat on 27th
MINGORA: The Swat Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged the people to attend the rally in Mingora city on September 27 to condemn the attempts to disturb peace in in the district.
The request was made at a meeting of the chamber chaired by its President Rahat Ali Khan. Senior Vice President Bakht Karam, Vice President Dr Zakir Muhammad, and former president Yousaf Ali Khan and others attended the meeting.
Diplomats from 12 countries, including Indonesia, Portugal, Kazakhstan, Bosnia, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Iran, Tajikistan and Russia, were visiting Swat when their convoy came under an attack that left one cop martyred and three others wounded.
The business community representatives condemned the blast targeting the diplomatic convoy. They demanded action against the Malakand commissioner and the Regional PoliceOfficer after alleging that both failed to provide adequate security to the diplomats, terming the terror act “negligence and security lapse”. The participants of themeeting offered a prayer for the martyred cop, Burhan Khan, and announced a cash assistance of Rs100,000 for his family.
