PESHAWAR: The Workers Welfare Board (WWB) employees on Thursday warned of launching a protest campaign from June 2 if the salaries of the board employees were not released forthwith.

Speaking at a news conference, Shah Zulqarnain, the WWB Employees Association’s president, said that the workers of the WWB had not received salaries for the last four months.  He asked the government to make decisions as per terms of reference (ToRs) and added that the sacked employees be reinstated and their outstanding dues should be paid.

He demanded regularisation of contractual and sanction-based employees who have been working for five years.

He also demanded service structure and rules for the WWB and Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) Islamabad.

He appreciated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labour Aneesa Zeb Tahirkheli for her efforts to make the department better but alleged that there were some elements who were trying to foil the efforts of the minister. He threatened to stage hunger strike if their demands were not met forthwith.
