Draft to empower PWDs presented to govt
PESHAWAR: Association of International Lawyer (AIL) worldwide inter-provincial coordinator Nasir Ghilzai advocate presented the proposed draft for empowerment of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act to the secretary law here on Thursday.
The step is aimed at strengthening the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities in the province, said a communique.The proposed draft includes several key amendments designed to improve the quality of life and legal protections for persons with disabilities. These proposed changes include exemption from taxes on all movable and immovable properties owned by persons with disabilities, ensuring financial relief.
“Adjustments to the grievance appeal time to ensure that appeals and grievances are addressed more efficiently,” said the communique, adding, the creation of a special cause list for court proceedings, allowing cases involving persons with disabilities to be prioritized.
The provision of necessary facilities in all buildings—both public and private—according to the specific needs of persons with disabilities, ensuring full accessibility. A recommendation to increase the quota for employment, education, and other services to better support the inclusion of persons with disabilities in all sectors.
