PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced the establishment of an endowment fund for the financial support of poverty-stricken artisans linked with different categories of performing and skilled arts.
The fund has immediately started work under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) in light of the directives of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Adviser to CM for Tourism and Culture Zahid Chan Zeb.
Applications were invited from deserving artists and artisans associated with various sectors of arts and crafts in the province. The last date for submission of applications was fixed as the 23rd of this month.
The details of the assistance were available on the website of the KPCTA where the application form can also be downloaded from there.The Advisor to CM for Tourism and Culture Zahid Chanzeb formally approved the launching of the fund.
He acknowledged that the artisan community was the promoter of our culture and heritage. He said encouraging their creativity and hard work was among the priorities of the provincial government.
Zahid Chanzeb said that calligraphy, drawing, handicrafts, jewelry designing, architecture, painting, sculpture, dance, music, literature, theatre, photography, fashion designing, seal making, ceramics and all other arts and artisans were important means of demonstrating human feelings.
Meanwhile, the establishment of the endowment fund for the welfare of artists by the provincial government has been widely welcomed by the artist community.
