Traffic on Kaghan’s new bridge restricted
MANSEHRA: The district administration restricted traffic on the newly installed steel bridge in the Mahandri area in Kaghan valley in Mansehra district as a precautionary measure after heavy rain lashed the area, officials said on Thursday.
Officials said the Manor stream was swelled to a dangerous level, prompting the district administration to order suspension of traffic temporarily. However, the vehicles were allowed to cross the bridge built at Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road later in the day when water started receding to its normal level.
The rainwater, which flooded bazaars, compelled traders to suspend their business activities until the situation came to normalcy after many hours. The flash floods in Manor steam had swept away houses, shops and central bridge blocking traffic between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan for over two weeks on July 31. Meanwhile, the rain continued to lash Mansehra, Torghar, Kolai-Palas, Upper Kohistan and Lower Kohistan sporadically.
