KARACHI: Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has said the recent pattern of target killings indicates a design and needs to be checked, adding that all mafias will be eliminated.
According to the ISPR, the COAS visited the Corps Headquarters where he was briefed by Corps Commander Naveed Mukhtar and DG Rangers Sindh Bilal Akbar on operation preparedness and also on the current law and order situation.
Gen Raheel directed the intelligence agencies and Rangers to trace, apprehend and expose the perpetrators as peace in Karachi is a priority for the revival of the city’s economic vibrancy and the well-being of its residents.
The COAS commended the performance of the law enforcement agencies in maintaining the law and order situation and specially singled out the Rangers for the peaceful by-election in NA-246. He also expressed his satisfaction over the intelligence input and progress of the operation in Karachi.
“The Karachi operation is bringing relief in terms of target killings and extortion. The operation will remain across the board, indiscriminate and will continue till its logical conclusion”.
