Shaheens trounce Tasmania
LAHORE: Pakistan Shaheens secured a five-wicket victory over Tasmania in their match of Top End T20 on Tuesday.
Chasing a modest target of 125, the Shaheens rode on crucial knocks from Sahibzada Farhan (45) and Omair Bin Yousuf (32) to seal the win with 2.5 overs to spare. Earlier, Mohammad Imran Jr. starred with the ball for Pakistan Shaheens, picking up three wickets for just 18 runs.
Tasmania’s innings never really got going as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Opener Jake Doran (26) and Tim Ward (22) were the only batsmen to get good starts, but they lacked support from the middle order. Jahandad Khan and Mohammad Abbas Afridi chipped in with two wickets each.
Pakistan Shaheens openers provided a solid foundation for their chase. However, they lost wickets in the middle overs, which put some pressure on them. But Sahibzada Farhan (45) steadied the ship. Omair Bin Yousuf (32) also played a valuable supporting role. Brief scores:
Pakistan Shaheens won by five wickets Tasmania 124 all out, 20 overs (Jake Doran 26, Tim Ward 22; Mohammad Imran Jnr 3-18, Jahandad Khan 2-21, Mohammad Abbas Afridi 2-39) Pakistan Shaheens 125-5, 15.1 overs (Sahibzada Farhan 45, Omair Bin Yousuf 32; William Prestwidge 3-27)
