Police on Monday registered a dual murder case in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area following a shooting incident that occurred two days ago.
The case, filed at the Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station, included charges of murder and attempted murder. The complaint was lodged by Asif, who was also injured in the attack.
According to Asif’s statement, he worked at a guest house where the incident occurred. He reported that at around 4am, the doorbell rang, and when he answered, armed individuals forced their way in. The assailants separated the victims into different rooms and interrogated Abdul Salam about a woman - asking details about her presence and whereabouts. After the questioning, the attackers shot Salam and Nasir Ashraf dead. Asif also reported that he and his brother, Asim, were shot in the arm and thigh.
The police had confirmed that two people were killed and two brothers were injured in the shooting. The deceased were identified as Salam, 24, and Ashraf, 28. Officials stated that Salam, Asim, and Asif were on the first floor of the house when Ashraf and another unidentified individual arrived. An argument over a woman led to the unidentified suspect opening fire. Thirteen empty shells from a 9mm pistol were recovered at the crime scene.
The police noted that the deceased and the injured are relatives from Hazara Division. Ashraf had rented the upper floor of the house from Sarim Qureshi, which was also used as a guest house. The investigation is ongoing.
