ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan Thursday issued the schedule for by-election in NA-171, Rahim Yar Khan, after the seat fell vacant on account of death of Mumtaz Mustafa, MNA, on Monday. The polling has been fixed for September 12.
The late legislator, who contested the general elections as an independent candidate, belonged to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, as the party could not qualify for the election symbol ‘for not holding the intra-party polls as per the related law and rules’.
