Billion Tree Plus Campaign launched in Landikotal
LANDIKOTAL: The district administration of Khyber, in collaboration with the forest department, launched the Billion Tree Plus plantation campaign at Adilkhad border in Landikotal on Wednesday.
The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Khyber Captain (r) Sanaullah Khan, District Police Chief Rai Mazhar Iqbal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Nauman Ali Shah, Divisional Officer of the Forest Department Zahid Mehsud, Assistant Commissioner Landikotal Adnan Mumtaz Khattak, Assistant Commissioner Shahabuddin, Rameez Ali Shah, Tehsildar Taimoor Afridi, Dawood Afridi, Zaib Ullah, school students, religious scholars, local elders, and civil military officers. The ceremony began with the recitation of the holy Quran. Guests shared their views on the importance of tree plantation, emphasising its critical role in combating environmental change and improving the quality of human life.
During the event, various types of plants were distributed to local committees. Participants and local residents planted trees in different locations within the Adilkhad village hills in Landikotal. As part of the Billion Tree Plus campaign, 5,000 trees are planned to be planted in the village, with the number of saplings set to increase in the coming days.
The administration encouraged the public to actively participate in the campaign by planting trees and involving their families.Deputy Commissioner Sanaullah Khan stated that by joining the initiative, the general public can contribute to providing a cleaner and greener environment for future generations.The event concluded with special prayers for the safety, peace, and security of the country.
