RUDA, HEC sign MoU on improving education system

LAHORE:Chairman Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) Azfar Ali Nasir Monday said the authority will be a milestone for the improvement of the education system in the country.

Addressing the signing ceremony of RUDA's memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Higher Education Commission, Azfar said world-class universities in Ravi City will not only lead to higher education but will also play an important role in strengthening the country's economy.

During the ceremony, an MoU was signed by Brigadier (retd) Mansoor Janjua COO Ravi Urban Development Authority and Dr Shahid Munir on behalf of the HEC. On the occasion, Mansoor Janjua said education was the basic right of every citizen, five universities of Great Britain were on board with us to build their campuses in Ravi Urban Development Authority area, while two universities of China have also decided to establish their educational institutions in Ravi city.

Dr Shahid Munir, Chairman, Punjab Higher Education Commission said the creation of Knowledge City in Ravi city was a commendable process and HEC will further improve its affiliation policy with Ravi Urban Development Authority .

UET observes Kashmir Exploitation Day

The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) on Monday observed Kashmir Exploitation Day to draw attention to the sufferings of the people in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K).

The event featured a walk from the Vice Chancellor’s office to the Main Library, led by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nasir Hayat, along with deans, faculty members, and students. The Kashmiri students participated actively, chanting slogans and denouncing the atrocities committed by both the historical Maharajah regime and the current Indian forces.

In his speech, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nasir Hayat praised the students' heartfelt commitment and expressed his strong belief in the eventual realisation of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

Condolences

A condolence meeting was held for the family members of three doctors of Lahore General Hospital. Post Graduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Dr Muhammad Al-Fareed Zafar chaired the meeting.

Special prayers were offered for the mother of Prof Dr Farah Shafi, sister of Prof Dr Nudrat Sohail and mother of Dr Fariha Shams. ED PINS Prof Asif Bashir, MS LGH Dr Faryad Hussain, President YDA Dr Haseeb Thind, MS PINS Dr Umar Ishaq, medical students and health professionals attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Principal PGMI Prof Al-Fareed Zafar said as Muslims it is our religious and moral responsibility to remember the deceased and pray for them.
