KDA announces new industrial zone in Surjani

KARACHI: Director General of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Syed Shujaat Hussain announced plans on Tuesday to establish a new industrial zone in Surjani, Karachi.

During a meeting with the North Karachi Association of Trade & Industry (NKATI), the DG announced that both NKATI and the Federal B Area Association of Trade & Industry (FABAT) will be prioritized in the development of the new industrial zone.

The DG informed that approximately 500 industrial plots, ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 sq-yards, have been earmarked for the new industrial zone. He emphasized that infrastructure development will proceed swiftly and encouraged the industrial community to seize this significant investment opportunity to contribute to the country’s economic stability.

Faisal Moiz Khan, president of NKATI, welcomed the DG and appreciated the announcement of the new industrial zone. He also pledged full support for the initiative. Khan also raised concerns over increasing encroachments in the North Karachi Industrial Area, particularly around KDA roads, which he urged should be addressed.

He also requested action against unauthorized hotels on industrial plots and inquired about the progress of road work and the Red Bus project.The DG assured that measures will be taken to remove encroachments and that the issues regarding construction and repair work on Godhra and Saba Cinema Roads will be addressed.
