Tree plantation drive launched in Bara

BARA: The Tehsil Municipal Administration launched a monsoon tree plantation campaign in Bara during which thousands of saplings would be planted in the Khyber district.

The drive was inaugurated by Member National Assembly (MNA) Iqbal Afridi, MPA Abdul Ghani Afridi and Tehsil Council Chairman Mufti Kafeel Afridi who planted a sapling on the premises of the Tehsil Municipal building in Bara to mark the occasion.

Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Fazal Subhan and other officials along with local people were present on the occasion.MNA Iqbal Afridi and MPA Abdul Ghani Afridi said that the need for the plantation had become even more imperative in the wake of the climate change challenges the world over, especially in areas such as Bara, Jamrud and Landikotal that had undergone devastation from natural calamities. The lawmakers said the tree plantation in the Khyber district could help control the impacts of climate change.

“Several thousand saplings of different species would be planted in Tirah and Bara during the drive,” MPA Abdul Ghani revealed.Abdul Ghani maintained that they had made a strategy not only to achieve the target of plantation but also to ensure the survival of the plants.
