Practise what you preach

This letter refers to the news report ‘US urges Taliban to ensure terrorist attacks are not launched from Afghan soil’ (July 17, 2024). We appreciate the US State Department’s concern over the matter. However, we strongly feel that the US should also practise what it preaches. With the massacre of Palestinians – conducted with US-supplied lethal ammunition – stretching into its tenth month, the US must enforce the UN ceasefire resolution by persuading/pressuring its client state Israel to accept it instead of resuming the supply of 500 pound bombs, which will only add fuel to the fire.
