Karak DEO suspended

KARAK: Provincial education department on the directives of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak suspended District Education Officer (DEO), Abdus Salam Marwat, for his alleged involvement in illegal recruitments in the department.

Sources privy to the development told The News on Wednesday that the district Nazim Dr Umar Daraz Khattak had written a letter to secretary education about the DEO’s alleged misconduct-the copies of which were also received by Chief Minister, provincial education minister and anti-corruption department.

The chief minister also ordered setting up an enquiry committee to probe the allegations leveled against the suspended official, sources said.The letter added that the official allegedly took bribes with the help of Assistant District Officer (education) Abdullah Khan and clerk Resham Zad. The district nazim also accused the DEO of misappropriation of grants aimed at the missing facilities in the government schools.
