3,549 majalis, 90 processions, organised on 2nd Muharram
LAHORE:On the second day of Muharram 90 processions and 3,549 majalis were held across the province on Tuesday. More than 26,000 cops discharged security duties for Muharram processions and majalis.
In Lahore, 2,500 cops provided security to participants of eight processions and 386 majalis. According to IGP Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, security is on high alert throughout the province during Muharram with the implementation of Section 144. The Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar (IGP) stated processions and gatherings are not allowed at any place other than the scheduled routes and places.
He said the officials of different security departments and branches have been assigned Muharram duty. He said strict implementation of Loudspeaker Act is being ensured and indiscriminate action is being taken against those involved in promoting hateful content on social media.
