VCs, directors allowed to grant ex-Pakistan leave

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad on Tuesday authorised all vice-chancellors of varsities and directors of degree-awarding institutes of the public sector to grant ex-Pakistan leave to their respective teaching and non-teaching staff.
According to a handout issued by the governor, the authorisation to this effect was given by him in his capacity as chancellor of public sector universities in the province.
The VCs and directors could grant the leave keeping in consideration the rules and regulations of the educational institutions.
While the procedure for availing ex-Pakistan leave by vice-chancellors, pro vice-chancellors, and deans of faculties would remain unchanged.
The powers were delegated on a request made by the Federation of All Pakistan Academic Staff Associations, collective federation of teachers’ bodies of public sector universities. Previously the chancellor’s secretariat used to approve the applications. In other provinces, powers to grant ex-Pakistan leave had already been delegated to the VCs.
