25th National Men’s Baseball begins
LAHORE: The 25th National Men’s Baseball Championship has officially commenced with an opening ceremony at the GHQ Rawalpindi Baseball Ground.
Organised by the Pakistan Federation Baseball, the championship promises to showcase the country’s top baseball talent. Deputy Director Lt. Col. Nabil Rana of the Army Sports Directorate graced the event as the Chief Guest, receiving a warm welcome from Syed Fakhar Ali Shah, General Secretary of the Pakistan Federation Baseball.
The championship kicked off with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa taking on Sindh in a thrilling match that ended with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa securing a 15-run lead. Standout performances came from Owais, Atif, Abdullah, Yahya, Hameed Tariq, and Qasim, who each contributed two runs to their team’s victory. Musa, Moazullah, and Abdul Rehman also played pivotal roles by adding one run each.
In another gripping match, WAPDA emerged victorious against Islamabad with a score of 10-4. Muhammad Wasim Ali was the star player for WAPDA, scoring three runs. He was well-supported by teammates Abidullah and Zakir who scored two runs each, and Sadam Hussain, Imran Nazim, and Nouman Zulfiqar who contributed one run each. Despite their loss, Islamabad put up a strong fight with Jibran, Tariq, Shafiq, and Wahid each scoring one run. The day’s competition concluded with an intense match between the Army and Police teams, where the Army team triumphed by 22 runs.
