Three suspected robbers killed in shootout

HYDERABAD: The Hatri police, while taking prompt action on the Hyderabad Bypass, targeted suspects involved in a robbery and killed three alleged robbers.
According to the SSP spokesman, Awais Ahmed, the robbery incident took place outside a bank after Lal Bakhsh, a shopkeeper in a vegetable market, withdrew cash. Three dacoits escaped after snatching Rs1.8 million from Lal Bakhsh at gunpoint. Soon a patrolling mobile of the Hatri police reached the spot after receiving a wireless message and tried to arrest the fleeing robbers, but they faced resistance from them.
In the encounter that ensued, one dacoit was killed on the spot while two other accomplices were injured. They injured suspects later succumbed to their injuries on reaching hospital.
According to the Hatri station house officer, two of the dead robbers were identified as Imtiaz Ali Bhand and Ali Akbar Junejo. The process of identifying the third one is ongoing. The police also claimed that they had recovered the looted money from the possession of the robbers.
