Eid celebrated with religious zeal
Rawalpindi:Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak, visited the control room established in the Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi to monitor the performance of all departments during the Eid days. The Chief Officer (CO) of the Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi, Imran Ali, accompanied the Commissioner and briefed him on the overall performance of the staff on Wednesday.
The commissioner also inspected various parts of the city and checked the permits of those collecting sacrificial animals hides, even on the third day of Eidul Azha.
The Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) has filed three cases against those who illegally spread garbage and other waste materials, and two places have been sealed off. The Chief Officer Imran Ali mentioned that the Punjab government has implemented Section 144 to prevent littering in public places, throwing animal dung, and burning pyres. He also stated that the field staff's leaves have been cancelled, and the Municipal Corporation staff was present in the field on all three days of Eid.
Furthermore, MCR staff was deployed around Nullah Leh to prevent the dumping of animal waste into it. Imran Ali warned that they would register FIRs against anyone found dumping animal waste and other materials in Nullah Leh. Commissioner Aamir Khattak visited different areas of the city, including Raja Bazaar, Sarafa Bazaar, Sadiqabad, Muslim Town, and other localities, and expressed satisfaction with the performance of civic departments.
Meanwhile, the festivities and celebrations continued on the third day of Eidul Azha as people visited recreational places across Rawalpindi Division. Several picnic spots such as Ayub National Park, Play Land, Allama Iqbal Park, Family Park Commercial Markets Satellite Town, Jinnah Park, and Romi Park received a large number of visitors.
However, visitors complained about overcharging, sale of substandard food items, and the non-availability of quality products. The lack of control and supervision by authorities allowed vendors to take advantage of the situation. A special control room was set up at the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office Rawalpindi, working 24/7 to handle any emergency situation. Commissioner Aamir Khattak directed relevant departments, including the Police, City Traffic Police (CTP), and Rescue-1122, to remain alert during Eidul Azha holidays to ensure security and provide maximum relief to citizens. The residents celebrated Eidul Azha with great religious zeal, fervour, and festivity. Tight security arrangements were made by Rawalpindi police, and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the city till the time of filing this report.
