LAHORE: A video of aN altercation between Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf and a fan in the USA has gone viral, igniting a firestorm of controversy.

The footage shows Rauf walking with his wife when he gets into a verbal exchange with a fan. The situation escalates, prompting Rauf to confront the individual. Bystanders intervened to prevent a physical altercation.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly condemned the incident and come out in full support of Rauf. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi demanded an apology from the fan, threatening legal action. Naqvi emphasised that the PCB will not tolerate disrespect towards its players.

Following the video’s circulation, Rauf took to social media to clarify his perspective. He acknowledged receiving criticism following Pakistan’s early T20 World Cup exit, but stressed that respect is paramount. He stated that the fan’s comments about his parents and family triggered his reaction.
