It is an undeniable fact that environmental degradation and climate change are having devastating effects on our agricultural land and its productivity, risking our food security. The government must invest in land restoration projects to check land degradation and enhance agricultural productivity. Beyond agriculture, it is also important to focus on overall environmental preservation. Pakistan and other developing countries could become the vanguard of climate resilience but the reluctance of major polluting countries to provide their share of funds is making this job difficult.
Despite these constraints, the government must do what it can and use local resources for climate resilience. There is a need to educate others about environmental issues, support sustainable agriculture, advocate for reforestation, offset our carbon footprint, use renewable energy and prevent deforestation.
