ISLAMABAD: Former caretaker prime minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar presented himself for investigation into the wheat import scandal.
Speaking in Islamabad, Anwaarul Haq Kakar said that he is ready to account in any court with evidence.
He said that it is alleged that they are not being touched because of the state institutions. Anwaarul Haq Kakar said that the permission to import wheat was given in 2019 and Shahbaz government decided to import under the same permission. The former caretaker prime minister said that Rs4,000 support price was fixed by the previous government, after the fall in global prices, the same people are taking credit of flour becoming cheap. Anwaarul Haq Kakar said that 4 lakh tonnes of wheat was imported during his tenure and 9 lakh tonnes after Shahbaz government came into power. He said that much uproar raised for importing wheat for only two and a half days of use, but nothing happened for not paying money for not generating 13,000 megawatts of electricity for 20 years.
