GDA to write to CJP about ‘lawlessness’ in Sindh
The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) has decided to write a letter to the chief justice of Pakistan to draw his attention to what the alliance terns lawlessness, deteriorating law and order situation and retaliatory actions against political opponents in the country, especially Sindh.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, GDA Chief Coordinator Sadruddin Shah Rashdi said the whole country had been on a ventilator. He recalled that earlier Pakistan lost half of the country because of the sense of deprivation among the public. He said mercy should be shown to the people so that the rest of it could be saved.
“We are holding back the people of Sindh, because we don’t want the province to end up like Kashmir,” Rashdi remarked. He said Sindh was the only province where lawlessness was rampant, and accused the law enforcement agencies of colluding with the criminals. “People holding important positions should take note of the situation in Sindh before it is too late,” he added.
He called for the powers that be to show mercy and appoint honest and untainted rulers. If the current situation continued, people may stop following the law, the GDA leader warned. “We live within Pakistan, and the establishment is the owner of Pakistan. They can promote whoever they want, but we want the stolen mandate of the people to be returned,” he said. Rashdi was of the view that the institutions must sit together, and everyone must think about the survival and security of the country. He opined that injustice had been done to the people in the general elections.
He said the incumbent government had come into power after fake elections. The GDA did not recognise this government, and felt there was no need to talk to them, he added. Earlier, the GDA held a meeting at the residence of former federal minister Murtaza Khan Jatoi chaired by the Pir Pagara with Rashdi, Dr Safdar Abbasi, former Sindh chief minister Liaqat Jatoi, Syed Zain Shah, Ayaz Latif Palijo, Sardar Abdul Rahim and Saira Bano among others in attendance.
