Rallies and functions mark Youm-e-Takbeer in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR: Various functions were arranged across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday to mark Youm-e-Takbeer — May 28, 1998 — when the country conducted nuclear tests in the Chaghi town of Balochistan.

The Peshawar district administration organized a rally to commemorate the day. Government officials, traders and people from different walks of life participated in the event.

The speaker praised the government of the time for conducting the tests and making the country a nuclear power in the world. Pakistan Markazi Muslim League staged a rally outside the Peshawar Press Club. The party’s provincial president Yawar Hayat and other leaders addressed the rally.

They renewed the commitment to make the country a true Islamic republic to improve the lives of the citizens.An event showcasing several activities marked Youm-e-Takbeer at the main hall of a local school and college.

The event was organized by the Peshawarians Literary Society. A group of students presented tributes to the nuclear scientists. The speakers highlighted the main features of the Youm-e-Takbir and stressed the need for national unity and progress to tackle future challenges.

They asked the students to develop a spirit of national unity and work to raise awareness about the significance of May 28 when Pakistan became the first Muslim nuclear country.

Khyber Medical University (KMU) marked Youm-e-Takbeer. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Zia Ul Haq, Dean of BMS Prof Dr Rubina Nazli, Professor Dr Inayat Shah, Director of IBMS KMU, Nasir Salim Arb, Director Sports & Youth Affairs, and Tahir Ayub Director of Administration, faculty, administrative staff, and students across the main campus and constituent Institutes attended the event. Dr Zia Ul Haq said the day provided a platform for profound reflections on international relations, peace, and Pakistan’s strategic significance in the global arena.

NOWSHERA: The district administration and the Education Department arranged a function to celebrate Youm-e-Takbeer at the Government High School, Nowshera.

The event was attended by the All Teachers Association, Nowshera, Faiqzada Kakakhel, principals and a large number of students. ASDEO Iftikhar Ahmad was the chief guest on the occasion.

The speakers said that May 28 was a day of happiness for the people of Pakistan as well as the entire Muslim World when the country went nuclear. Also, traders, political figures and civil society members staged a rally where the participants praised the scientists of PAEC, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Mian Nawaz Sharif and the armed forces.

PARACHINAR: The Youm-e-Takbeer was also marked with national and zest in Kurram tribal district.The participants led by officials of district administration took out a rally from Governor’s Cottage and chanted slogans in support of the scientists, who had made the deference of Pakistan invincible.

KALAYA: A rally was staged in Kalaya, the headquarters of Orakzai tribal district. The participants paid rich tribute to the scientists. They said the nuclear tests had made the country defence strong.

KHAR: People and cops holding the national flags staged a rally to mark Youm-e-Takbeer. The participants highlighted the main features of May 28 and stressed the need for national unity and progress to tackle future challenges.
