Man injured as drunk cop opens fire

LAHORE:A passerby was injured by gunfire from a police sub-inspector in the Gulshan Ravi area on Sunday. According to police reports, Sub-Inspector Fayaz, allegedly intoxicated, assaulted a citizen named Farhan.

After beating him, Fayaz fired shots, but Farhan escaped unharmed. Unfortunately, a bullet struck a passerby named Haris, who was taken to Mayo Hospital. A case has been registered against Fayaz for attempted murder based on Farhan's complaint. Initially, Fayaz, who is stationed at Sherakot, attempted to run over Farhan before the shooting incident. The police later apprehended Fayaz.

Man released from jail shot dead

A 45-year-old man was shot dead in Harbanspura police area here on Sunday. The victim, Waheed Butt, was present with one of his companions when his opponents attacked him and shot at and wounded him.

He was immediately rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. According to police, the victim had just been released from prison in murder cases. Heinous cases like attempted murder, terrorism, and kidnapping for ransom were registered against Wahid Butt. The body was shifted to the morgue.

20 dead in road accidents in Punjab

Around 20 persons were killed and 1,369 injured in 1,273 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of these, 623 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 746 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.

One die, two injured in different accidents

A man died and two others were injured in different road accidents in the provincial capital on Sunday. A 55-year-old man died in a traffic accident near Multan Road, Saidpur, Sabzazar. The victim was identified as Wajid Maqsood. Meanwhile, two persons were injured in a traffic accident near Begumkot Chowk, Shahdara. The accident occurred due to a collision between a motorcycle and a speeding car. Among the injured, 55-year-old Muhammad Aslam and 28-year-old Umar Hussain were shifted to hospital.

Man found dead

Body of a 50-year-old man was found near Loha Market, Nolakha on Sunday. The man, yet to be identified, died of excessive use of drugs. The body was shifted to mortuary by Edhi Ambulance.
