PESHAWAR: The Pukhto Adabi Society Edwardes College, Peshawar organised a musical evening on Saturday night, where popular singers Ijaz Ufaq and Shaukat Swati enthralled the audience.

Before the start of the music show, the orgainser, Haider Jan, said the society was founded in 1920 and it had been organising literary and cultural activities since then.Speaking on the occasion, Prof Shujat Ali Khan, the principal of the college, and Prof Sareer stated that the college was not only focusing on curricular but also on co-curricular activities.

Chief Guest Dr Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, former Home Secretary, Chairman National Think Tank, while speaking on the occasion applauded the efforts of the society and the college by inculcating taste for literature.

He recalled that Dr Phil Edmond, the late principal, would quote John Donne that no man was an island; entire itself. of thine own were: Any man’s death diminishes me, Because I am involved in mankind, And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;It tolls for thee. By that he meant that everyone was part of the whole. Individual part of humanity.Quoting Mirza Ghalib, Faiz Ahmad Faiz, he said that a poet’s job is not only to see a river in a droplet but also to show it to the reader.
