Islamabad:The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), National Central Bureau (NCB), and Interpol Pakistan arrested 66 suspects from various countries, wanted to law enforcement agencies of Pakistan in heinous offenses.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) release 6-month performance report, indicating that the apprehended suspects were wanted in cases of murder, attempted murder, robbery, abduction, and corruption. The FIA, NCB, and Interpol Pakistan had issued red notices the criminals who escaped from the country to avoid their arrest.
50 suspects wanted in murder cases were arrested, said in the report, adding, while five suspects wanted in fraud and forgery cases were apprehended. Four suspects wanted in robbery cases were arrested, three suspects wanted in attempted murder cases were arrested, two suspects each wanted in abduction and corruption cases were arrested, the report maintained. The arrested suspects were wanted by FIA, NAB, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir Police.
The report said that 35 suspects were arrested from UAE, 18 from Saudi Arabia, 5 from Oman, 2 from Kuwait, 2 from Italy, and one each from Spain, Turkey, Bahrain, and Azerbaijan, making a total of 4 suspects arrested from these countries, were handed over to the authorities at the airports, the report maintained. The arrested suspects were handed over to the relevant police authorities at the airports.
Director-General FIA Ahmed Ishaq Jahangir praised the performance of NCB Interpol Pakistan. DG FIA said that NCB Interpol Pakistan is in constant communication with the entire world through modern technology 24/7. No place in the world is safe for criminals wanted for serious crimes, DG Ahmed Ishaq Jahangir averred. The Interpol's efforts regarding information on suspects are commendable, DG added. Efforts to expedite operations for the apprehension of suspects wanted in serious crimes should be accelerated, he maintained.
Strong relations should be established with international organizations for the apprehension of suspects wanted in serious crimes, Ahmed Ishaq Jahangir directed to the staff of NCB and added that all means should be employed for the apprehension of suspects wanted in serious crimes. The DG asked the relevant authorities of the FIA that special measures should be taken for the training of Interpol officers.
