ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the appointment of Rubina Khalid as Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme.
The president also accepted the resignation of Dr Amjad Saqib from the post of BISP chairperson. According to a President House announcement on Wednesday, Zardari approved the appointment under Section 5(3) of the Benazir Income Support Programme Act 2010.
Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had nominated Rubina Khalid for the post last week in a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in which he gave the names of PPP nominees for Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Rubina is a former PPP senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
