The situation in the ‘katcha’ or formally undeveloped areas of Sindh is getting worse by the day due to the unabated rise of crime, particularly armed robbery. It would not be an exaggeration to say that some of these areas have become like de-facto war zones, with the police on one side and the bandits on the other. For those travelling to and from the province via the motorways, the ‘katcha’ areas are often unavoidable.
The danger they face is exacerbated by the fact that many of the security arrangements on said motorways such as border lines and cameras are in a state of disrepair. Once again, criminals have been allowed to exercise their terror and disrupt the lives of ordinary people across the country.
