TDPs to return to their homes by end-November

Even though Pakistan is affected by natural disasters and calamities, it is heading in the right direction as humanitarian institutions like the Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) have become the voice of the heart of every person due to its fast-track relief operations and speedy response in emergency situations. Temporarily Dislocated Persons (TDPs) are our guests and will return to their homes safe and sound by the end of November 2016.
The governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jaghra delivered these remarks while addressing a ceremony to celebrate World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day here at the Fatima Jinnah auditorium of PRC national headquarters.
“I salute PRC for its promising efforts for community betterment and for its role in relief operations,” Jaghra added. He said, Temporarily Dislocated Persons (TDPs) are our guests and will return to their homes safe and sound by the end of November 2016.
Speaking on the occasion, PRC’s Chairman Dr. Saeed Elahi, said that the seed that was planted 152 years ago is now providing fruit and shadow to many people around the world. “PRC works by acting upon 7 principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, unity, voluntary service and universality,: he said, adding that PRC has provided relief worth billions of rupees to more than 1.5 billion affected people in Pakistan since its inception 68 years ago. “We have also provided first aid training to 150,000 people and are working on the deployment of district officers in 152 districts,” he stated.
Gorkhmaz Huseynov, head of IFRC Pakistan Delegation and Reto Stocker, head of ICRC Pakistan Delegation, also addressed at the occasion and assured full support to PRC’s humanitarian activities.
Waleed Mushtaq, the CEO of International Roots School System, also lauded PRC’s efforts and added that PRC’s humanitarian programmes are the need of the hour for the society. Students from Roots International School System performed a tableau related to World RCRC Day.
In the end, the chief guest awarded shields to top volunteer Farwa Shiekh and among winner students who participated in a poster completion.
