PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday issued notices to the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) for power disruption to Mattani town of the district.

A two members bench comprising Justice Shakeel Ahmad heard and Justice Sahibzada Asadullah heard the case. The petitioner Adnan Yousafzai, himself a lawyer, submitted to the court that the Pesco used to supply power to the area for four in 24 hours in the past but the company cut off power supply to the village one year back.

He said the people should not be punished for the crime of a few people who did not pay for the power consumption. He alleged that Pesco staff was involved in the power theft.

Addressing the Pesco lawyer who was present in the court, Justice Shakeel Ahmad observed that Pesco should go for those industrialists who were engaged in power theft. He said common power consumers who were paying bills should not be punished. The court adjourned the hearing into the case to April 30 after issuing notices to Pesco.
