20 Gepco employees arrested for overbilling, false entries
GUJRANWALA: The FIA teams have arrested 20 Gepco officers and officials for their involvement in overbilling and false entries.
The accused allegedly caused a loss of 105 million to the national exchequer by creating fake overbilling and false entries over the past year. The arrested officers, including revenue officers, assistant managers, additional assistant managers, accounts officers, and commercial assistants, were brought before the court on Wednesday. The court granted a two-day physical remand for the accused. It was revealed that five revenue officers, six divisional accounts officers, assistant managers, additional managers, and other staff were implicated in this fraudulent case. On the other hand, the Gepco teams have disconnected the electricity connections of FIA offices. The Gepco sources stated that there were millions of rupees in electricity dues owed by FIA, which had not been paid for several years.
