Former Sindh caretaker chief minister Justice (retired) Maqbool Baqar could be appointed as the new governor of the province, replacing Kamran Khan Tessori, Geo News reported on Tuesday night.
The reports about the appointment of a new governor in the province have been doing the rounds since last month after the new federal and provincial governments fully assumed charge following the February 8 general elections.
Justice (retired) Baqar had earlier served as the interim Sindh CM from 17 August 2023 to 27 February 2024. The last general elections were held in Sindh on his watch.
Justice (retired) Baqar had served as judge of the Supreme Court from 2015 to 2022 and chief justice of the Sindh High Court from 2013 to 2015. He served as a judge of the Sindh High Court from 2002 to 2015. Kamran Khan Tessori assumed charge as the governor on 10th October 2022.
