Man strangled to death
LAHORE : A 42-year-old man was strangled to death in the limits of Misri Shah police on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Mehmood Ahmad, son of Siddique. The body was badly decomposed which meant he had been killed for a few days.
Meanwhile, a 40-year-old man was found dead near Bandianwala Bridge, Factory Area. The deceased was identified as Zuhaib, son of M Iqbal. Police said that Iqbal was a drug addict.
The body of a 55-year-old man was found near Karim Block Market, Gulshan Iqbal. The identity of the deceased was yet to be ascertained. Edhi volunteers shifted the bodies to the morgue.
Child reunited with parents
Motorway police reunited an 8-year-old child with his parents on the Lahore Thokar Niaz Baig Motorway.
Motorway officials said a child, Azan, had escaped from his family from the Chuhng area. The child was unable to give his address due to mental weakness.
DSP Riaz Khan handed over the child to his parents, who expressed their gratitude to the motorway police for finding the child. Sector Commander Ghulam Qadir Sindhu appreciated the performance of the officers.
Rs1.8m released for cops’ treatment
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman has released Rs1.8 million additional grant for medical expenses of police personnel serving in various districts including Lahore.
As per details, Lahore Police Constable Zubair Younas was provided with Rs500,000 for medical treatment, while Gujranwala Police Inspector Ghazi M Riaz was given Rs500,000 for medical expenses.
Bahawalpur Police Constable Zahid Javed was handed over Rs350,000 for medical treatment, and Bahawalpur’s injured Constable Rashid Mahmood was provided with Rs250,000 for medical expenses and Khanewal Police Constable Hamza Abbas was given Rs500,000 for medical treatment. A Punjab police spokesman said the online welfare processing of applications and payment of funds to force through the compensation award committee was continuing without any interruption.
IGP Dr Usman directed the officers to continue priority measures for welfare of the force and full support should be provided to every official suffering from any kind of medical problem.
Man commits suicide
A 28-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope in the limits of Sanda police on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Tanveer. Police said that reason behind the suicide was unknown. Edhi volunteers shifted the dead body to the mortuary.
89 profiteers arrested
The district administration has intensified price control measures following the Chief Minister’s directives and conducted raids at 3,648 points resulting in the arrest of 89 violators during Eid holidays.
Lahore Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider told media here on Saturday that the price control magistrates had imposed a fine of Rs153,000 on 226 shopkeepers and sealed various sale points during the last three days.
Around 108 individuals are facing cases over profiteering.
In an endeavor to ensure the sale of essential commodities at prescribed rates, stringent monitoring is underway across the city and price control magistrates are conducting rigorous operations.
The DC emphasized zero tolerance on profiteering as per directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and urged price control magistrates to remain proactive.
Rafia Haider also advised the public to check prices on the price check App before making purchases and in case of any profiteering, contact Punjab Chief Minister Helpline or tag them on social media.
