HYDERABAD: M Prakash Advocate, who fought for the cause of human and minority rights, has passed away at the age of 76 due to a heart attack.
Political leaders, rights activists, lawyers and social workers expressed grief at the death of Prakash and paid tribute to him for his struggle for human rights.
Sindh Assembly Deputy Speaker Anthony Naveed, former Punjab MPA Habaquq Gul, Bishop of Hyderabad Sanson Shakruddin, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan member Pushpa Kumari and various other political and social leaders, journalistics, lawyers and minority leaders reached Prakash’s Qasimabad Bhitai Nagar residence in large numbers.
His last rites will be
performed at 11am today (Sunday) at the Hyderabad Bypass Agni Sanskar.
Prakash played a leading role in the struggle for enacting various pro-minority laws in the country. He carried out lobbying to give constitutional and legal rights to the Hindu and Christian communities in the country.
He served as a member of the Federal Minority Council in 1976. He also served as a member of the District Council Hyderabad.
He is survived by a widow, son Ras Mohtani who is involved in social works and a daughter.
