SUKKUR: The PPP regime had adopted an impartial policy at the time a crisis in Syria developed, said the Leader of Opposition in National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah, on Wednesday.
He was speaking to media persons after inaugurating the Computerised Domicile Registration Centre (CDRC) at the office of the deputy commissioner, Sukkur. He advised the government to do the same on the Yemen issue. “We are already paying the price of going into the Afghan war,” he said and added: “Afghan President Ashraf Ghani begged pardon from Taliban but we still continue to pay the price of our mistake.”
Regarding population planning he said our country did not make any success to take the track of prosperity, while the most populous Bangladesh managed to succeed in controlling it. He said it is so unfortunate that we did not even provide clean drinking water to the people of the countryside.
Shah said a survey conducted during the PPP tenure said the poverty ratio was 67 percent. It was also found that only 48 percent children were getting schooling. Khursheed Shah said data regarding government employees is also about to surface in Sukkur. It would reveal the elements doing dual jobs and getting salaries.
Regarding law and order situation in Sindh, he said it is satisfactory as the ratio of kidnapping for ransom and vehicle snatching has decreased. Earlier, during inauguration of the CDRC, its in-charge said the centre has been established under public-private partnership, with a cost of Rs4 million. MNA Khursheed Shah also inaugurated
Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Digital Library at Govt Islamia Science College, Sukkur. He also participated in a ceremony to witness performance of police officials at Police Lines, Sukkur and distributed certificates amongst Police Officers.
