‘Kitab Mela’ to be held in all provinces too
Islamabad: After Islamabad, the 'Kitab Mela' will be organised in all four provinces, too.
The ‘Kitab Mela’ was held by the National Book Foundation in collaboration with the National History and Literary Heritage Division at Pakistan-China Friendship Centre from April 22 to April 24, attracting intellectuals, literary personalities, book ambassadors, educationists, writers, poets, artists, students, and people from other walks of life, and offering a wide range of books on big discount.
The decision about the countrywide holding of ‘Kitab Mela’ was made during a meeting chaired by adviser to the prime minister on national history and literary heritage Irfan Siddiqui in Islamabad.
The adviser said the government had decided to organise book fairs in all four provinces in phases. He said the Book ‘Mela’ would take place in Hyderabad, Bahawalpur, Quetta and Peshawar.
Irfan Siddiqui directed the officials of the heritage division and NBF, who were also in attendance, to begin preparations for the proposed events. He said a book friendship movement would be launched in the country with people from all walks of life being invited to take part in it. The adviser urged people to promote book reading in their respective communities.
