Placing Nawaz’s picture on Kissan Card challenged in LHC
LAHORE: The act of putting PMLN Quaid Nawaz Sharif’s photo on Kissan Card was challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday.
The petition was filed by a citizen Mashkoor Hussain through his counsel, making Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the government of Punjab and Nawaz Sharif respondents. The petitioner has taken the plea that public funds cannot be used for personal advertisements, so placing Nawaz Sharif’s photo on the Kissan Card was a violation of the law.
The petitioner has requested the court to stop the Punjab government from releasing Kissan Cards bearing Nawaz Sharif’s photo.
The expenses incurred on placing Nawaz Sharif’s photo on the Kissan Card be recovered from Nawaz Sharif, he demanded. The petitioner requested the court to stop the Punjab government from printing the Kissan Cards till the final decision on the petition.
