Govt releases Rs8.8m for heirs of slain polio workers
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Tuesday released Rs4.4 million to each of the two women polio workers who were killed last year during the anti-polio campaign in Mansehra district.
According to a notification issued by the Finance Department, a total of Rs8.800 million had been released to compensate the families of Lady Health Workers Sitara Gul daughter of Mian Gul and Kaneez Nargis daughter of Mian Gul to acknowledge their services.
The notification said that Rs3.3 million would be released as cash compensation while a plot of land worth Rs1.1 million would be given to their families.It may be recalled that Sitara Gul and Kaneez Nargis and a policeman Muhammad Mushtaq were gunned down on the second day of the anti-polio campaign in Mansehra in March, 2015.
