ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party has asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly speaker to administer the oath of office to MPAs elected on reserved seats to pave the way for Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and continue the democratic system.
“If the oath is not taken on reserved seats, Senate elections will be affected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” said PPP Information Secretary Faisal Karim Kundi in a video message on Friday.
He said the Peshawar High Court and the Election Commission of Pakistan had already given their opinion on this issue and asked the speaker to administer the oath. He said the KP speaker was playing the same role as did by the former deputy speaker, National Assembly, violating the Constitution.
