Health adviser for making dengue counters effective

Adviser to chief minister on Health Kh Salman Rafique has directed that dengue counters established in hospitals should be made effective and banners should be displayed for awareness of the patients. 

He directed third party validation of indoor-outdoor dengue surveillance teams particularly in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Multan and Sheikhpura districts. He said this while chairing a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Dengue at Civil Secretariat, according to a handout issued here on Tuesday.  The meeting was briefed about the indoor-outdoor dengue surveillance activities and other steps taken for dengue control by the different departments.

The officers of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and the Special Branch pointed out gaps in the dengue surveillance activities and arrangements in the hospitals.  Kh Salman Rafique directed that a vibrant data collection system from private hospitals and general medical practitioners should be evolved and implementation on it also be ensured.

He directed the officers of the departments concerned to remove the gaps pointed out in the Punjab Information Technology Board and special branch reports.

Moot: Punjab Planning and Development Department in collaboration with the World Bank and Policy and Strategy Planning Unit Health Department organised a conference on malnutrition in women and children at P&D Complex, Lahore.

Representatives of micro-nutrient initiatives, United Nations, Unicef, WHO, DIFID, World Bank and Health Department participated in the conference. Punjab Member Health P&D Dr Shabana Haider addressing the conference said the Punjab government was trying its best to improve the nutrition of women and children.
