Tevta institutions to be upgraded: minister
LAHORE: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Industry and Commerce, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain at Tevta Secretariat in which the progress of ongoing development schemes and various features of CM Youth Skills Development Programme were reviewed.
It was decided not to establish any new institution without improving the existing ones. Speaking at the meeting, the minister said that Tevta’s institutions and labs would be aligned with global requirements.
He said that labs should be upgraded with the cooperation of universities like UMT, while biometric attendance of students and staff should also be arranged. He said that special attention should be paid to the future of microchip manufacturing. Arabic, German, Korean, Japanese and Spanish language courses should be started. The minister also directed to improve Tevta’s website.
Joint degree programmes allowed
Punjab University’s Academic Council meeting held on Tuesday approved adaptation of policy regarding affiliated colleges proposed by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood chaired the meeting which was also attended by Registrar Dr Ahmed Islam, deans of various faculties, heads of departments and professors. According to the vision of the Vice-Chancellor, for the first time, approval was given to start a joint degree programme of BS Agri-Business with the collaboration of two different departments i.e Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Hailey College of Commerce. The Academic Council has also allowed to start several degree programmes at the BS, MS and PhD levels.
UHS declares results
The UHS released the result of the fourth professional Doctor of Pharmacy annual examinations 2023 on Tuesday. According to the notification issued by the examination department, 239 candidates of three pharmacy colleges took the exam, out of which 226 passed and 13 failed. Thus, the success rate was 94.56 percent. Mahzeen Qamar of Yusra Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences Rawalpindi got first position with 765/900 marks, Shayan Ali of Quaid-i-Azam College of Pharmacy Sahiwal got second position with 762 marks and Farah Jamil of Yusra Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences Rawalpindi got third position with 744 marks. Additionally, the university also declared the MD radiology final 1st annual exam result. The exam ended on Tuesday. Only four out of 20 candidates from eleven postgraduate institutions could pass this examination.
