PESHAWAR: The Election Tribunal of Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Friday adjourned to March 25 the hearing into eight appeals filed against acceptance and rejection of nomination papers for the Senate elections after seeking replies from the parties.
The court asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to produce the records of the two Senate elections as it accepted the pleas of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati.The tribunal consisting of Justice Shakeel Ahmad heard the appeals filed by Azam Swati,Murad Saeed and Khurram Zeeshan.
Qazi Muhammad Anwar, Barrister Waqar and Azeem Afridi appeared for the petitioners. Mohsin Kamran Siddique represented the ECP.Senior counsel Qazi Anwar said there were two objections to Azam Swati papers.The ECP lawyer said there were two objections-hiding of assets and involvement in cases. The tribunal issued notices to the ECP.
