MANSEHRA: A wildfire stemming from a nearby mountainous range partially affected a village in Torghar, resulting in the death of two people, including a young girl, and leaving a woman critically injured.

According to Dilroz Khan, the former district nazim of Torghar, the incident took place in the Garhi Madakhel area of Kunder Hassanzai tehsil Tuesday evening.Amin Umar, while reportedly relocating firewood near his house to evade the wildfire, got trapped amidst the flames. Two local women, unrelated to him, courageously attempted to rescue him but tragically ended up getting caught in the fire themselves, and one of the women died in the efforts.

The charred bodies of Umar and a 15-year-old girl were later recovered by locals. The other woman, with serious injuries, was rushed to a nearby health facility, where her condition was said to be critical.

Expressing concern over the incident, Dilroz urged the authorities to investigate the cause of the fire and punish those found guilty. He asked the government to provide financial compensation to the families of the deceased.
