232 awarded degrees at HCBF convocation

LAHORE: Punjab University Hailey College of Banking & Finance (HCBF) organised 12th convocation in which degrees were distributed among 232 students.

On this occasion, former adviser to chief minister Khawaja Ahmed Hassaan, Punjab Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Shahid Munir, PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Faculty of Commerce Dean Prof Dr Mubbasher Munawar Khan, HCBF Principal Dr Ahmed Muneeb Mehta, faculty members and students were present.

In his address, Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan said that the important responsibility has fallen on the shoulders of the students and they have to play their role in the development of the country. He said that smartphones have taken family relationships away from each other.

Dr Shahid Munir said that women should enter the practical fields and contribute to the national and domestic economy. He said that students should play a role in strengthening Islamic banking. He said that no nation in the world has developed without women. He said that PU has inculcated knowledge and character qualities in you.

Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood said that Punjab University has produced the best graduates in every field and PU’s world ranking is improving every year. He congratulated the students, their parents and teachers on their success. Dr Ahmed Muneeb Mehta said that students are given education in the college according to modern requirements. He said that steps were taken to develop marketable skills among the students.

Campuses labs to be upgraded

Provincial Minister of Industry and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain Friday visited the office of Punjab Skills Development Authority.

On the occasion, the minister said labs will be upgraded in technical education institutions. PSDA DG Waseema Umar briefed the minister on the working of the institution and its future plan of action. The minister inspected various departments of the institution and said the future of Pakistan was linked to the promotion of quality technical education. He said there is a huge demand for skilled manpower in world market, so the youth should be trained and educated.
