Solar batteries presented to 23 mosques in Orakzai
KALAYA: Solar panel batteries were distributed to 23 mosques in Upper Orakzai district on Thursday. The initiative, jointly undertaken by Local Government Department and non-government organisation Qabail Lead Development, was meant to provide lighting facilities for worshippers during the holy month of Ramazan.
Upper Orakzai suffers from a lack of electricity, which is why solar systems are required for mosques. Hussain Rahman, chairman of the Rukhtan village council, lauded the government authorities and the NGO for providing solar panels to mosques in various areas.
The villages where the batteries were distributed included Navay Kalay, Zor Kalay, Gundi Tal, Tangi Tal, Sara Gharai, Tanga, Yousaf Khel, and Dabori Thana.Hussain Rahman said the absence of electricity in Upper Orakzai posed challenges for residents during Taraweeh and prayers due to darkness.
