RAWALPINDI: Hasan Ali dedicated his match-winning performance against Quetta Gladiators in the PSL 9 here at the Pindi Stadium to his newborn baby.
Talking to media, Hasan said his baby had brought luck for him. “I dedicate my match-winning performance against Quetta to my newborn baby. She has brought luck for me. I will remember this performance when she grows older.”
Hasan said it was never easy to bowl on the Pindi track. “Since we were desperately looking forward to winning, I tried to bowl my heart out in the match.” His 4-15 backed by double wicket overs destroyed Quetta’s middle-order, helping the Karachi Kings get back in the reckoning for a place in the play-offs.
“I tried to maintain proper line and length, mixing it up with variety that helped me keep strong Quetta batting in check,” he said. In a post-match media talk, Kings’ Head Coach Phil Simmons praised Hasan’s bowling which he thought helped his side achieve an emphatic win.
“We were looking forward to this win. Our bowlers led by Hasan bowled brilliantly making it difficult for Quetta batsmen to score freely.” He also praised the top-order for coming to the party at the right time. “We lost back-to-back matches more due to the fact that our top-order batsmen did not click. Here in this match, the top-order made their mark, helping us gain two important points. These points and even a good clear win was important for us for our chances of making it to the play-offs.” He added that the pitch was comparatively slow and a bit sticky. “The pitch was not the one that was seen in previous matches here at the Pindi Stadium. It was a bit low and sticky.”
