ISLAMABAD: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has identified some sections of the Supreme Court’s verdict on granting bail to a member of Ahmadi community, which created ambiguities.

The CII, in its 236th meeting with its Chairman Qibla Ayaz in the chair, discussed the Supreme Court’s verdict on the petition filed by Mubarak Sani.

“The CII has identified clause of the verdict which created ambiguities,” a statement issued by the CII said. The council meeting also finalised proposals, which would be sent to the Supreme Court to make the decision comprehensive,” it further said.

The Supreme Court had directed the SC office to send a copy of its February 6 judgement to the CII and others for their opinion.

In response to an earlier letter from the-then caretaker prime minister, the CII meeting suggested the government form an effective board of Ulema to ensure peace and sectarian harmony in Gilgit-Baltistan. It was proposed that the Ulema board should be made a regular forum. It was observed that Gilgit-Baltistan was a sensitive area, which is also a vital route of CPEC; therefore, maintenance of peace there would play a key role for the country’s economy.

The meeting also called traders to maintain the sanctity of Holy Ramazan and to uphold Islamic values, they should refrain from hoarding and profiteering. The CII meeting also paid tributes to the services of 12 members of council who would be completing their tenure on April 18 this year. They include Dr Umair Mahmood Siddiqui, Pir Abul Hssan Muhammad Shah, Sahibzada Muhammad Hassan Haseebur Rehman, Maulana Muhammad Hamidul Haq Haqqani, Maulana Muhammad Hussain Akbar, Maulana Ziaullah Shah Bokhari, Pirzada Junain Amin, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Ashrafi, Mufti Muhammad Zubair, Syed Muhammad Habib Irfani and Maulana Naseem Ali Shah.
