LAHORE : Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has started a comprehensive cleanliness awareness campaign in provincial capital on Saturday.

LWMC’s community mobilisation teams organised a cleanliness awareness walk at Mall Road and Liberty Market, with participation from trade union leaders and students.

During the walk, students engaged in a symbolic waste-picking activity alongside trade union leaders, highlighting the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces.

LWMC Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din stated that the drive's awareness activities will be expanded to reach every union council with LWMC workers conducting door-to-door activities to promote the message of cleanliness.

According to LWMC spokesperson Umar Chaudhary, LWMC has installed beautifully decorated containers adorned with truck art at various locations, including Panorama Centre, Dulha Market, Mall Road, Liberty Market, and Main Boulevard Gulberg. Cleanliness awareness pamphlets were also distributed among shoppers. The initiative aims to encourage citizens to dispose of waste responsibly.

CEO Babar Sahib Din urged shopkeepers to use the designated bins for waste disposal, emphasising that a clean city requires the cooperation of all citizens. He also stressed the importance of everyone playing their part in maintaining a clean environment.

Citizens were encouraged to cooperate with LWMC staff and can report cleanliness-related issues by contacting the LWMC helpline at 1139 or through social media channels.
